"I believe leadership is measured by results and Fred Haynes is a principled proven public servant based on his past and present community service along with his engaging commitment to process and governance serving on the city council.

Fred has the progressive vision and skill to serve as a successful mayor and make Saanich an even better place to live. I give my support and endorsement to his mayoral candidacy."
Richard Michaels, President, CEO Maccrim Solutions

Fred is a community convener who possesses a talent for working effectively between a number of community groups at once. He thinks proactively and puts the community needs first.”
Shawn Steele, Fix Ash Road Now (FARN), Past Pres. Prospect Lake Preservation Society

"In 2017, I worked with Fred on a high-pressure, short-deadline project. Not only did he bring tremendous positive energy to the table, but he proved to be a man of his word. Fred invariably did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. If I lived in Saanich, I would certainly vote for Fred."
Lois Smith, former Director, Sport Administration, 1994 Commonwealth Games

"I'll be voting Haynes for a candidate who can see better ways to do things in Saanich, in a way that really makes a difference to people.”  Barbara Newton, Instructor, Camosun College

I have worked with Fred for about 12 years - on numerous community projects including rebuilding the PLDCA Community Hall and environmental stewardship. He is dynamic, smart, reliable and a breath of fresh air in an organization.
Paul Scrimger, Past President Prospect Lake Community Association.

"Fred Haynes has a leadership style that is inclusive and gets decisions made. My experience is from the time I was President of the Gordon Head Residents Association (2012 - 2014) when our community was dealing with what became known as the Cattle Feed Lot in Gordon Head.  We had been struggling with the issue for several years.  It appeared quite simple from our perspective. The Local Area Plan and the Saanich Official Community Plan both called for the property in question to be excluded from the ALR, upon application.  Those policies had been in place for 20 years.  Unfortunately, we could not convince the Council of the day to follow their own policies.

It was not until Fred came along, studied the matter, met with a great number of residents, Saanich staff and council colleagues to fully understand the situation. He then brilliantly championed the community’s cause on Council such that the matter was resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.

I believe that Fred is the consensus builder that Saanich Council needs as it moves forward to tackle the serious issues in front of it. These include housing, transport, neighbourhood environments, greenspace, farming, taxes, economy, possible amalgamation and more."

Paul McKivett, Past President, Gordon Head Residents Association

"I am happy to offer my endorsement to Fred Haynes to be the next mayor of Saanich. I have had the pleasure of working with Fred on numerous occasions and have found him to be hard-working, passionate, and open to learning and listening. His support for our work on the LGBTQ advisory sub-committee was well appreciated. He is quick to engage with people and have a meaningful dialogue about the issues facing our community and how he can work to address them. I have confidence in Fred as a leader in our community and believe he will be an excellent mayor of Saanich."
